Don't Play DOOM With a Gamepad

My PC died recently and I've been struggling to fill the DOOM void in my life ever since. I have a Chromebook now, which can run DOSbox and therefore DOOM, but it's far from an ideal way to play. The Chromebook version of DOSbox doesn't seem to support mouse input, and the machine is so underpowered that I get pretty awful performance. In desperation, I bought the Switch versions of DOOM and DOOM II, for a total of 3 dollars.

DOOM on a gamepad is not an ideal experience.

The Switch port at least runs better than the DOS version on my Chromebook, but aiming with an analog stick doesn't feel great when you can't aim up or down, and more importantly, the speed of this game's movement is just way too fast for an analog stick to keep up with. It's one thing when you have a mouse that you can use to turn as fast as you want, but when there's a specific speed at which you turn, it's impossible to find one that's fast enough to keep up with the movement, but slow enough to be accurate with.

The Switch port is weird in a few other ways which aren't unique to it. The medpacks have a green cross instead of a red one, a concession apparently made in a previous port to appease copyright laws, as well as the usual censorship of nazi imagery in the secret Wolfenstein levels, which has persisted through several versions of DOOM II.

Of course, DOOM is still DOOM, and even when played with a substandard input method I'd rather play DOOM than not. I certainly feel that I've gotten my 3 dollars worth, but I just wish I could play it properly, with a mouse and keyboard. I'd only recommend this version of DOOM if you're really desperate and have no better options.

Physical Feedback: "VictimGirls R: Molestation Eradication Campaign" by Asanagi

Content warning: molestation, rape, sexual violence Last week I spoke pretty positively about one of Asanagi's VictimGirls doujins, and this week I thought it might be interesting to provide a counterpoint with an entry in the series which I find it difficult to enjoy, primarily on moral and cultural grounds. VictimGirls 21 took place in a clearly fantastical setting and involved the use of magical garments and mind control, which made it very easy to compartmentalize the morality of the scenario and simply to project onto whatever participant most appealed to your desires; VictimGirls R: Molestation Eradication Campaign , however, takes a... different approach. The book portrays a feminist movement against molestation in which young girls appoint themselves as unofficial anti-molestation activists and publicly call out molesters on trains. Said movement is almost immediately revealed to be comprise primarily of self-serving, sadistic, or suggestible girls partaking in spurious...

Physical Feedback: Hot Shit High Chapter 1

Hot Shit High Chapter 1 can be read here . It's time to introduce another character who will surely be making repeat appearances over the course of this series: Erotibot . A western porn artist who takes stylistic influence from both live-action western pornography and japanese h-doujinshi, Erotibot made a huge impression on me with the first work of his that I saw: Hot Shit High. The setting is a loving pastiche of exaggerated americana; a high school where the cheerleaders are so cartoonishly promiscuous as to have no qualms removing their panties in the hallway, the jocks are utter pigheaded oafs who maintain social standing through intimidation and threats of gun violence, and should a trigger be pulled in between classes, a teacher will burst out of the nearest classroom, blazing away with a tommy gun and exclaiming "NO SHOOTING IN THE HALL!" I wasn't kidding Our story focuses on Marvin, a lame-ass nerd who the head cheerleader Sharlene has set her si...

Physical Feedback: "Cats Can Fetch" by FluffKevlar

I'm planning on covering a fairly wide and varied collection of good porn on this series before I start dipping my toe into the mediocre or outright bad, and to that end we have our second subject of scrutiny: Cats Can Fetch , in which FluffKevlar depicts a wonderful little encounter between a catboy twink and a canine futanari. This one opens with a lot more plot setup than Come On! Shoot Faster did, and while it relies much less on suspension of disbelief, it's unfortunately just kinda boring, so let's fast forward through most of that. All you really need to know is that canine girl Lia has a crush on catboy Twix, and he thinks she's cute but in order to really be interested in a relationship he needs the cock. Fortunately, Lia is equipped with such weaponry, and shows him as much in one of the private study rooms. From this point it goes exactly where you'd expect it to; blowjob to anal to untimely discovery leading into a comedic ending. In the broad strok...
